CATFISH

Nearly nine feet long (2.7 meters) and as big as a grizzly bear, a huge catfish caught in northern Thailand may be the largest freshwater fish ever recorded.

Caught last month (May 1) in the Mekong River, a team of fishermen struggled for more than an hour to haul the creature in. It tipped the scales at 646 pounds (293 kilograms).

Despite efforts to keep the Mekong giant catfish alive, it died and was later eaten by villagers.

 STINGRAY

A British man visiting Thailand to help with a stingray tagging program was nearly pulled overboard. Ian Welch just happened to catch the largest freshwater fish ever landed, a 770-pound stingray! The ray was seven feet wide by seven feet long, with a monstrous ten-foot stinger.

It required 13 men in total to finally get the stingray onto the boat for inspection. After tagging and recording the ray, which was actually pregnant, it was released back into the water.

SALMON

You have to see it to believe it, but California Department of Fish and Game biologists think they have come across perhaps the biggest Chinook salmon ever to live in California waters.

During a routine survey of salmon in lower Battle Creek near Red Bluff, biologists came across a Chinook salmon that had died of natural causes.   But this one literally stopped them in their tracks.   Measuring 51 inches long, scientists believe when alive, this fish may have weighed more than 90 pounds.  That would make is the largest Chinook ever recorded in California.   

EEL

The Conger eel is found all round the British Isles, and other Northern European coastlines. It prefers rough ground, preferably a reef or a wreck, in depths down to about 100m. It grows to a maximum of 3m long and about 250-350lb in weight. In fact this weight is just a guess and maybe larger.

 The biggest Conger Eel ever recorded was a gigantic fish of 350lb found trapped in nets off Iceland's Westmann Islands.

WHALE SHARK

The largest specimen was caught on November 11, 1947, near Baba Island, in Karachi, Pakistan. It was 12.65 metres (41.50 ft) long, weighed more than 21.5 tonnes (47,000 lb), and had a girth of 7 metres (23.0 ft).

KING CRAB

 This wopper weighed in over 15 kg.

GIANT SQUID

The squid measured about 33 ft and just accidentally got caught up in a net from a fishing boat.

MARLIN

The largest commercially caught marlin bottomed out a 1000kg scale meaning it weighed in excess of 2200 lbs.

BARRACUDA

BASS

This bass was caught in California in a fishing sports competition. It weighed about 400 lbs and measured 9.52 ft. or 2.9017 mtrs.

GREAT WHITE SHARK

The white shark in the photo below was caught off the coast of Cuba in the mid 1940's. It weighed an incredible 7,100 lbs (3.2 metric tonnes) and measured a length of 21 feet (6.4 meters). Its liver weighed in at 1,500 lbs.

Yes it’s no joke. Lizzie Velasquez, 21 years old is from Texas. She is a communications student, and she weighs just 25.4 kg!! And almost 0% body fat! Oh yeah she’s not sick of anorexia, depression or whatever disease that affects the appetite.

A meal every 15 minutes? Hmm bout 60 in a day. But did I mention her meals consist between 5,000 and 8,000 calories daily. If you’re wondering how much that be in food well it’s about 37-59 hard boiled eggs or about 29-46cups (250 g) of rice in a day. If you want to know how much effort it would need to burn that much well it’s about 10-16 hours of jogging at 5mph/active swimming. Imagine taking all of that in one day haha. And if you’ll try and find her classification on charts about Body Mass Index, uhhhm she’s not even included because her weight is supposedly impossible.

Lizzie has a normal brother and sister, but she doesn’t really mind what people around her say because her brother and sister love her so much and always look out after her.

She was born with minimal amniotic fluid protecting her in her mom’s womb. Her sickness was undiagnosed for the longest time, until 2 other people were discovered to have the same condition, and that makes her 1 of 3. But doctors have linked her illness to another mysterious sickness which is called Neonatal Progeroid Syndrome, or simply progeria.

She even had a statement once:

 “I weigh myself regularly and if I gain even one pound I get really excited. I eat every 15-20 minutes to keep my energy levels up. I eat small portions of crisps, sweets, chocolate, pizza, chicken, cake, doughnuts, ice cream, noodles and pop tarts all day long, so I get pretty upset when people accuse me of being anorexic. When I meet new people I have to say: ‘Hi, I’m Lizzie and I have this rare syndrome, I am NOT anorexic’.”

Lizzie’s internal organs, skeletal structure, and brain development were all normal. In the picture one could that her right eye is opaque, she is blind from this eye. Before she was 4, her eyes were normal but then her right eye began to become cloudy and eventually she became blind at this eye.

Another thing, people with progeria live up to only 15 years or less. Because of the very rapid development of their body, a year for a normal person is equivalent to 10 years if you have the disease.

Dr. Abdul Manan shows the x-ray of a glass bottle lodged into a 60 year old man's lower intestines. This was done by thieves who assaulted him before stealing his two buffaloes. The operation to remove the bottle happened at the Nishtar hospital in Multan, Pakistan.

A construction worker in Los Angeles had an unfortunate accident that drove 6 nails into his skull with a nail gun. Luckily he survived.

Michael Hill is a survivor after surviving being stabbed in the brain with an 8 inch knife. The incident happened last April 25, 1998. While at a friend's house, he answered the door, then an unkown person stabbed him in the head. Hill walked to another friend's house to ask help and was then sent to Shands Jacksonville Trauma Center. The knife was largest recorded object that was thrusted into the brain.



Pat Skinner was 69 years old when she had part of her colon removed at Sydney's George Hospital May of 2001. Months after the operation she experienced persistent abdominal pain. She demanded doctors x-ray her abdomen and found a 6.7 inch pair of surgical scissors that was removed October of 2002.

 Nicholas Holderman, a toddler accidentally fell on his parent's car keys. He miraculously survived after one of the car keys penetrated his brain.

Don't ask, but to clear your thoughts yup this is an accident. Lin Kong used the scissors to clean his teeth instead of a toothpick. He was a friend then and when his friend cracked a joke he accidentally swallowed the scissors. Yup, I know uuuuggghhh hahha. The 9x4 cm pair of scissors was removed from the 27 year old man's esophagus.



Surgeons in Rotterdam in the Netherlands were flabbergasted when X-rays showed 78 different items of cutlery in the 52-year-old woman’s stomach.

They rushed her to surgery in a desperate attempt to remove the dozens of forks and spoons trapped inside her body one by one.

The astonishing images were actually taken over 30 years ago – but they were published for the first time this week in a Dutch medical magazine.She had been diagnosed as suffering from a borderline personality disorder that left her with an urge to eat forks and spoons.

The owners of Spike the Patterdale terrier were astonished when they took their sick pet to the vet and discovered what had caused the problem. The dog has had a £1,000 operation to remove a rubber duck from its gut – 18 months after the bathroom toy vanished.link

 A man swallowed a £1,750 engagement ring for him to propose to his girlfriend. Unfortunaltely for him the police suspected him and ran a metal detector over his stomach. He got jailed for 12 weeks after admitting the incident. Now, the ring was given back to the Jeweller but the ring won't sell since everybody knows where it's been.



It went through 11-year-old Liu Cheong’s eye socket, completely through his head and was only stopped by the back of his skull.

“If the arrow had been shot with just a bit more force, it would have come out the back of his head,” said doctors at Jida Hospital in Changchun, eastern China.

After brain scans and x-rays, doctors began to cut away parts of his skull to remove the arrow without damaging optic nerves or brain tissue. The boy only survived because the arrow had miraculously missed his brain.
